Surface pattern designer

About

Textile designer and artist Erin Dollar is best known for the minimalist, modern pattern designs she creates for her home decor company, Cotton & Flax. Inspired by modern art, Scandinavian design, and sustainable living, Erin’s approach to surface pattern design is thoughtful and considered.

From her studio in California, Erin creates bold, expressive designs with a handmade edge. Cotton & Flax is an expansion of her fine art printmaking practice, where her designs take shape as small batch, hand-printed textiles.

In addition to leading in-person creative workshops, Erin teaches classes on printmaking and marketing for creative businesses to over 16K students on CreativeLive. Her surface pattern designs have been featured on a wide variety of products, including home decor, stationery, and apparel. Clients include Robert Kaufman Fabrics, CB2, Schoolhouse Electric, Scout Books, and American Express.

Erin takes on a wide variety of textile design, surface pattern design, and printmaking projects. If you have a collaboration idea, or want to commission new work, please get in touch: erindollar@gmail.com.

Making goods for display in the home requires more than an eye-catching design. Deeper consideration is needed, and Erin spends a large part of her design process thinking about the role of the home as a whole.
